Mental health is a large topic in todays society. In todays day and age, learning to cope with the expectations of the world we live in can often take a toll on all ages and demographics. Studies show that those who participate in recreational activities benefit from a higher resilience against stress, a more positive outlook on life and an overall better mental health. This is proven as recreation decreases mental health problems, improves cognitive function and has a positive impact on ones emotional, physical and emotional health. Because of our passion for recreation and our individual journeys with mental health, incorporating both into a community development project ended up being successful.
